TAKEN FROM ATHENS DAILY REVIEW, "WILL AND JASON OF HENDERSON COUNTY SHOTGUN SPORTS AND CRHS RECENTLY COMPETED IN SAN ANTONIO AT THE STATE SHOtgun SPORTS 4-H CHAMPIONSHIPS IN SAN ANTONIO. WILL AND JASON BOTH FINISHED 3RD OVERALL IN THEIR RESPECTIVE AGE DIVISIONS WHILE ALSO PLACING IN SEVERAL INDIVIDUAL EVENTs. Good day for our club at freestone county 4-h whiz bang. proud of all of our kids that competed, good shooting Eric, will, colby, jason, ryan, and cole! Cole won second in junior category, colby won third in Senior 1 category, Jason won Senior 1 category and Will won Senior 2 category.

HC4HSS had a fun time at Johnson fandango last weekend. cole adair 5th junior whiz bang, lane smith shot 49 in senior 1 placing 4th, jason silvey shot well with 5th senior 1 trap, 1st senior 1 whiz bang with 46, and 5th senior 1 skeet and will van dusen won reserve senior 2 hoa with 3rd in trap, 3rd in sporting clays and 1st in senior 2 whiz bang. ryan holcomb shot well as well! congratulations!

Our Henderson County 4H Whiz Bang was a rainy but successful event! Although a long day, our over 120 competitors had a great time. Our kids shot well and here are the superlatives: Cole Adair-4th Junior Trap, 3rd Junior Whiz Bang, and 3rd Junior Sporting Clays. Ryan Holcomb-5th Intermediate Skeet. Colton Barrett-1st Intermediate Whiz Bang and 5th Sporting Clays. Austin Moore-3rd Intermediate Sporting Clays. Jason Silvey-the Senior 1 HOA Champion won 1st Senior 1 Skeet, 1st Senior 1 Trap, 1st Senior 1 Whiz Bang, and 5th Senior 1 Sporting Clays. WIll Van Dusen-the Senior 2 HOA Champion won Senior 2 Skeet, 3rd Senior 2 Trap, 5th Senior 2 Whiz Bang and Senior 2 Sporting Clays. Colby Elkins and Eric Hamons also competed and competed well!
2/18 - 2/21/15
Cole Adair, Ryan Holcomb, Jason Silvey, Colby Tompkins and Will Van Dusen competed at the San Antonio Livestock Show S.A.L.E. Junior Shoot Out at the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio. Cole and Ryan shot in theJunior Division in trap and sporting clays and shottheir personal best in trap! Jason, Colby and Will competed in the Senior Division in trap and sporting clays. Colby also shoot his personal best in trap at this contest! Jason shot a perfect 100 in trap and was named Open Boys Runner Up Champion and received a $10,000.00 Scholarship. Will placed first in Lewis Class 1 in trap and was named Sporting Clays Champion in the Boys Division with a score of 98. We are so proud of each one of these young men! Great job!
Eric Hammons, Jason Silvey, Will Van Dusen, Colby Tompkins, Colton Barrett, Ruan Holcomb, Austin Moore and Cole Adair competed at Texas 4H State Shooting Sports Games this past week. This was Cole's first year and he showed improvement thru out the week. Austin, Ryan & Colton were our Intermediates this year and did with some great accomplishments. Jason, Colby, Eric & Will did great as well with 2nd Place American Skeet Team and Third Place American Trap Team Award. Will topped out the group with a 2nd Place American Trap, 4th Place Sporting Clays, American Skeet 1st Place with a "100 perfect score." He additionally was 2nd place Senior 1 Shotgun Shootout and Senior I American HOA Champion. All represented our club well and showed good shooting etiquette thru out the competition. Henderson Co 4H Shotgun Sports we are all so proud of you!

Cole Adair and Will Van Dusen competed at the 14th Annual invtational Comal County Shoot in San Antonio. Cole shot well in Junior Sporting Clays. Will Van Dusen shot in Senior I class and did well winning the Runner Up Champion Buckle. He also shot his first 100 straight in American Skeet!

Austin Moore, Ryan Holcomb, Eric Hamon, Colby Tompkins, and Will Van Dusen competed at the 19th annual Houston County 4H Whiz Bang in Crockett, Texas. The Boys all did well shooting there best at some pretty tough set targets. Congratulations to Will for being named event HOA Champion Shooter.

Colton Barrett, Ryan Holcomb, Colby Tompkins, Jason Silvey, Austin Moore, and Will Van Dusen competed at The Johnson County Fandango. All shot well and had a good time competing with shooters from all over the state. Colton Barrett received 6th place in Intermediate Skeet, Jason Silvey placed 4th in Senior I Skeet and 3rd in Saturday's Senior 1 Whiz Bang, and Will Van Dusen placed 5th in Senior I Skeet, 2nd in Senior I Sporting Clays and 2nd in Sunday's Whiz Bang to give will the Senior I HOA Champion Buckle. Good job Henderson County 4H Shotgun Sports!

Will Van Dusen traveled to Winnie, Texas and competed at the Jefferson County 4H Whiz Bang. He had good results winning Senior 1 HOA Champion. 1st in Senior I Skeet, Trap, & Whz Bang. Good Job!

Eric Hamons, Colby Tompkins, Jason Silvey, Will Van Dusen, Colton Barrett, Ryan Holcomb, and Austin Moore competed at Freestone County 4H Whiz Bang in Teague. The young men did well! A few were recognized Colton Barrett 6th in Sporting Clays, Colby Tompkins 7th Whiz Bang, Jason Silvey 2nd Place Senior I Reserve Champion and Will VanDusen Senior I HOA Champion. Good shooting!

Austin Moore and Colby Tompkins competed at Dallas County 4H Invitational Whiz Bang in Waxahachie, Texas. The boys did well, Colby placed 2nd in Sr I Sporting Clays and 3rd in Senior I Skeet & Whiz Bang. Austin faired as well also. He was 2nd in Intermediate Sporting Clays & 3rd in Intermediate Trap.

Ryan Holcomb, Colton Barrett, and Will VanDusen competed at Montgomery County Invitational Whiz Bang in Conroe . The boys did had a great time shooting. Award for Colton was 7th place Intermediate Whiz Bang. And Will won SR I HOA along with 1st in SR I Whiz Bang, Sporting Clays & Trap. And 2nd in SR I Skeet. In the Sporting Clays Father/Son, will and his Dad took 1st Place.

Colby Tompkins, Will Van Dusen, and Jason Silvey went and compete at Madison County 4-H Whiz Bang. The boys all did well! Jason placed 4th in Senior I Whiz Bang. Will placed 1st in Senior I Skeet & Trap, 3rd in Senior I Whiz Bang, and was awarded Top Gun Champion.

Back on March 15th, our club hosted the HC Whiz Bang Shoot. Really had a good turn out by 4H'ers from all over the state. Our kids did well competing in all shooting events. Here is a few that placed:

Jason Silvey-2nd in Senior 1 Trap & 3rd in Senior 1 Sporting Clays
Colby Tompkins-Senior 1 Runner-Up Champion, 3rd in Senior 1 Skeet, 5th in Senior 1 Trap, 3rd in Senior 1 Whiz Bang, 2nd Senior 1 Sporting Clays & 1st in Team Sporting Clays with Eric Van Dusen.
Will Van Dusen-Senior 1 HOA Champion, 1st in Senior 1 Skeet, 1st in Senior 1 Whiz Bang, 1st in Senior 1 Sporting Clays, & 5th in Team Sporting Clays with Steve Van Dusen.

Jason Silvey and Colby Tompkins represented Henderson County 4-H Shotgun Sports at the First Annual Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Young Guns Shoot on February 28th and March 1st. During the first day of shooting Colby shot a 91/100 and Jason shot a 99/100. Jasonqualified for the Jr. MaleFinals on Saturday and shot a 91/100 andwas named Jr. Male Runner Up Champion.

Austin Moore and Will Van Dusen qualified and competed at the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department 2024 Whiz Bang Finals in San Antonio. Austin placed 4th in the Junior competition. And Will placed 2nd in the Senior Competition.

Some of our 4HShotgun Sports Club recently attended the2024 Texas 4H State Shooting Sports Games in San Antonio. Club consisted of Austin Moore of Tyler, Ryan Holcomb of Frankston, Colton Barrett of Lone Oak, Colby Elkins of Chandler, Jason Silvey of Cross Roads, Eric Hamons of Tyler, and Will Van Dusen of Cross Roads. The shooters have shot off and on at different Competitions thru out 2024. They've had a good shooting season and were proud of each one of them! Some of our shooters have bettered their personal shooting scores recently. Again, a awesome group of kids! The following is just what our kids accomplished at the recent Shooting Sports Games.

Colton Barrett of Lone Oak, Colby Elkins of Chandler, and Jason Silvey of Cross Roads were awarded-2024 Texas 4H State Shooting Sports Games "1st Place 3 Man Intermediate Skeet Team."
Will Van Dusen of Cross Roads was awarded2024 Texas 4H State Shooting Sports Games "Senior 1 Shotgun Shootout HOA Champion," "1st Place Senior 1 Sporting Clays," and "Runner Up Senior 1 Gun Smoke Shootout Champion."

Jason Silvey has won HOA at Henderson County, Montgomery County, Victoria County, Johnson County, and Kerr County. Runner Up HOA at Brazos County and Jefferson County.
